Great communicators aren’t born with their skill. They follow a formula.

The Communication Formula Workshop — a free one-hour hands-on workshop and drills in Chicago’s South Loop.

There’s one skill that makes work, relationships, and everyday life all easier at once — and most people were never taught it. It’s learnable. Come find out how the formula works — and practice it yourself — in one evening.

Ever walk away from a conversation thinking, ‘Why didn’t I just say that?’

You know what you want to say — but in the moment, it doesn’t always come out right.

  • Someone gets upset, and you freeze, shut down, or make it worse.

  • You have something worth saying, but speaking up in a room full of people stops you cold — or at least makes you nervous.

  • The relationship that matters most is the one where you just can’t seem to get through.

  • The same argument keeps happening — different night, same upset.

Here’s what almost no one tells you: communication is a skill — not a personality trait you’re born with or without. There’s an actual formula to it. It can be broken into its exact parts, understood, and drilled — and once you learn those parts, you have something you can use in every conversation for the rest of your life. Confidence in conversation is built, not something you’re born with.

This isn’t a lecture you just sit through

In under 90 minutes, you’ll learn the formula of communication — the precise parts that make it actually work — and see it demonstrated live. You’ll do short drills yourself, so you don’t just hear about it, you feel the difference in real time.

Participation is voluntary and no one gets put on the spot.

The formula

The five parts

  1. Being There

How to be comfortable and present with another person, instead of stuck in your own head.

  2. Confronting

How to face a person or situation without flinching, freezing, or backing down.

  3. Starting a conversation

How to open with anyone and be confident it’ll go well, instead of freezing, going blank, or waiting for someone else to break the ice.

  4. Handling an upset

How to stay steady when someone gets upset and actually turn it around, instead of escalating, shutting down, or making it worse.

  5. Getting your message across

How to say what you mean, actually be heard, and handle whatever comes back at you.

Work with the real parts of communication you were never taught.

What people use the formula for

  • Handling any tough conversation without losing their cool — instead of escalating or shutting down

  • Having the guts to talk to that girl or guy you always wanted to get to know — and how to control the conversation so they will be interested

  • Getting through to a spouse, a kid, or a parent

  • Speaking up at work with confidence and finally being taken seriously

  • Walking into any room with something to say — and the confidence to say it

Why it works

Master the formula and you understand why conversations go sideways — and how to steer them back. They’re the fundamentals underneath every hard conversation you’ve ever had: the argument that spiraled, the point you couldn’t land, the person you couldn’t reach.

The workshop is based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology, and the powerful formulas and principles he discovered to unlock success in communication and life. These principles are what make it so effective.

Led by a dynamic, experienced speaker

Our speaker has spent years helping people communicate — and makes it lively, hands-on, and genuinely fun. Ask questions anytime. Practice as you go. Walk out with something you can use before you get home.
